Today was the day. I had been emailing the lady who was friends with the guy who wanted our old trailer. She said he wanted to meet us, and we agreed on Saturday at 10am.  So, even though we stayed up late watching a movie Friday night, we all got up and ready and hauled ourselves over to the old trailer. We set the girls to work on the inside of the trailer and DH and I tacked the shed. There was actually a lot more in the shed than I’d thought.  While we were working on it, a car pulled up. It was the lady who had been emailing me.  She said the guy would be coming by soon.  Meanwhile she chatted a little, then even went inside and helped the kids clean up the bedrooms. Finally the guy came by. After I introduced he and DH to one another, we handed him the title that we’d already signed as well as the paper of info for the trailer that had been on the wall of the closet, and the mail key.

The guy’s friend came by as well as the maintenence people who happen to be the parents of 17’s (16 had a birthday) ex boyfriend.  Well one of them. She had dated their son when she was 14 and he was 16 until they were 15 and 17. Apparently he was a jerk and couldn’t keep his hands off of her – though we didn’t know it at the time.  Nothing terribly major though, but enough for her to dump him for a nicer guy.  ANYWAY, his mother is one of the rudest and mose crass people I’ve ever met.  When 17 came outside to dump a trash bag in the pile, the woman called out to her and called her “Fatty”.  I have to say 17 is not fat. She’s chunky maybe, but she’s got a great figure and does have a waist (as opposed to my spare tire ugh). Anyway, doesn’t matter, the woman was just rude.  I wanted to say something to her, but I felt it just was not the place or time, and I would simply not stoop to her level.  I knew my kid would just ignore the woman, as she can’t stand her anyway.  Oh, and let me just say the woman has no place to talk, she’s missing teeth and has no partials or dentures to replace them, she’s got a man’s haircut (and not one of those sassy spiky things – just an ugly man’s haircut with graying dark hair)  and she’s also heavyset.  I simply do not understand.

So, anyway, I heard the maintenance people leaving, then the guy’s friend asked what exactly they were doing there, and then they all got in their cars and left. So, my family was left to get our junk out of there.  The girls got the inside done and two of them went off to a bday party. 17 went to get her boyfriend (the nice one) and brought him over to help.  I think it took 3 loads to the dump, and about 4 hours and a box of trashbags, but we finally got everything out of the shed, and hauled off or brought back here.  I didn’t think we’d have much left to keep, but we did. I found a lot of old stuff from when I was a teenager.  I’d like to go thru it again before throwing most of it away.  no need in keeping everything.  Now my gazebo is covering piles of stuff. That’s what I get to do tomorrow.  Sort.

We did leave one tub of stuff that had been half ful of water black with mold.  We kicked it over to empty the water out, and we’ll have to go back and figure out how to take care of that. There’s also still a pile of wood stuff the dump won’t take. We’ve got to see if a friend of ours wants it for his burn pile.  He’s a pyromaniac, so shouldn’t be a problem.

The guy said he signs his lease tomorrow, they’ve already approved him, he just has to fix the underpinning and get rid of the shed.  The woman said she was going to see if they could talk them into letting him keep the shed if he put a new roof on it and painted it.  They also raised his lot rent by $15.  They had JUST raised it less than 6 months ago.

But basically it’s over.  In fact, if I can talk DH into going over and dealing with the moldy tub full of stuff and the wood pile, I might never have to go back there again. Oh happy day!!!

I got the email yesterday!  The landlord approved the guy!  We’re meeting at 10am Saturday morning to hand over the title and the mail key.  I’m so excited!!  I’m not crazy about having to clean up the rest of our stuff, but hopefully it won’t take too long and we can bid them goodbye and be on our way and never look back!

I think it may be a sign that my tomcat that kept going over to the old place and we’d have to get him and drive him home – has apparently decided this is home now.  We brought him back last Saturday, and he was OK since we had a stray here the kids had adopted who was in heat (joy) and he felt no reason to leave.  But a couple days ago, she apparently went out of heat, and he lost interest and left. Was gone a whole night and day, and I figured he’d gone back to the old place again.  Well, yesterday (as most days) I had the back door open to let in the breeze and let the dogs sun on the back porch, and in walks the cat.  So, he found his way back here this time.  He’s also discovered a way to get in and out on his own through the kitchen  window near the deck.  So, now I won’t have left anything behind at the old place. I’m happy about that!

The kids are out of school tomorrow.  I hope they stay quiet and let me sleep!

Today didn’t go as planned – do they ever?

DH was sick yesterday and out of work feeling like crap. He went in today, threw up dropping the kids off to school and then again at work, so he came home. We got the Dr office late since he left me sleep til 1:30. The clinic was packed so we didn’t get out of there til 5 and he was groggy from a shot.  I knew I had to get to work soon, so I sent 16 to meet the people about the trailer at 6pm.  I was kinda leery about it, but she’s good with people and friendly and honest.  She called me after they left and said the woman loved it and the guy was a big strong type who was excited to rip up the carpets and fix the floors.  Turns out she used to live in the trailer park too back when the previous owners had it and the trailer were run down and awful.  She said he paid over $300 a month rent for a trailer in worse shape than the one we showed her, so she was thrilled.  She saw the patch jobs we’d sone with the planks over holes and said she’d done the same thing and knew what it was like.  I KNEW someone out there would appreciate the home as I did.  She’s thrilled with the yard too and loves the snowball bush I planted years ago that’s HUGE.  I will miss it.  There’s the old fountain DH’s great grandfather built too.  For some reason DH’s grandparents decided to haul the very heavy thing to our house one year.  We never could get it sealed to work as a fountain, so I planted the small sedum in it and  it trails down over the edge and looks really pretty in the spring and early summer.   Anyway!   They said they didn’t mind the cleaning and work, and fixing the outside stuff to make the park people happy.  She said she already knows the maintenance people who run the office when the manager is gone, and is pretty sure she can get them to let her have it.  Sounds like she’s the type who can get it done too.  I hope SO!!

So now!  I HAVE to get the flowers dug up and transplanted and we HAVE to get the shed cleaned out and the stuff out of the inside of it.  Of course DH has to be sick now.  I didn’t want to go back over there anytime soon, but I need to for the flowers.   I can’t rely on Friend to come over and get them, but I’d still like him to have them.  So, I’ll go dig some up asap, then drive them to his place.  Maybe if I dig them up one day and keep them damp, I can take them over the next day and meet him for lunch and give them to him there.   Going to his house would be kind of weird.  I have yet to meet his wife.  Not sure why, we just never cross paths.  I run into his sisters though.

I am just so thrilled to finally have found someone who wants the place. I guess since they don’t appear to have kids, they won’t need the swing set, so we’ll have to take it apart and take it over here and put it together for the girls and the neighborhood kids.  I’m sure the mean boys will break it.  Creepy boys.

I’ll post when we know more on the park manager stuff.

I got an email from one of the people I sent emails to about the trailer.  This is the one who had emailed me even after I’d posted a “pending” email to Freecycle to get people to stop asking about it.  That’s how many people declined to take it… sheesh.  Well, she seems *really* excited about it, and says she doesn’t care how bad it is or needs cleaning.  So, since DH was sick today, I told her he could show it to her at 6pm tomorrow evening (Tuesday).

I sent 16 and 12 over to the place to clean up the rooms some more… it’s gotten to where I can’t bring myslf to go.  It is seriously such a huge psychological thing with me. I hate that it has a power over me, but I recognize that it does.  I’m so screwed up.  So, anyway, they went over and said someone had been in there again.  There was a pad of graph paper on the couch. So they took it, and got some of the stuff out of the house, then our old tom cat who won’t come with us to the new place ended up scratching 12.  He was probably upset they didn’t have any cat food.  He’s always been quite pushy. I hope whoever takes the new place likes cats, cause he goes with the house. Hah.  Anyway, so she got a big scratch and so they came back to get a bandaid and 12 stayed here.  16 went back over to the place, but called and said she was creeped out and didn’t like being there by herself even with the doors chained.  So she came back home.

I REALLY REALLY wish DH would just get the last of the stuff out of there and have it done with. I can NOT believe it’s taken this long.

Well, if all goes well, the woman will like the place, go apply to be pre approved to live there and take the place off our hands.  That’ll get him motivated to get the last stuff out of there.  It might just make me get off my arse and go clean it up too.  I just dread it SO much.
